it's been a bloggerlicious week so far. interestingly, i've had only one prior confirmed date with 2 bloggeritas for monday night, but as fate would have it, i get to meet more, totally unplanned. lessee now ...

monday night was a shopping date with herda and nymph. lovely ladies they both are! strangely, even though they were the ones all psyched about actually buying something, i was the one who went home with a shopping bag in my hand *grins*. i saw someone wrote this on herda's tagboard "focus ladies! focus!", and she is so right. i wasn't really counting on getting anything but i had one thing on my mind. issey miyake perfume and well ... i came, i saw, i conquered. got the 100ml pour femme and pour homme edt at a steal price and a whole load of freebies along with it *jewel does happy jig*. so there you go, monday was a good day. good company, great desserts (go try swensen's new banana crumble! it's goooooooooood!) and wonderful purchases. heh heh!



tuesday: a cute wittle chipmunk sms'ed me on monday saying that she's doing a course somewhere near my workplace. i thought she had mistakenly sent the sms to me instead of her "ahem ahem". but nope, it was for me (heh heh!). so we made plans to have lunch together at the nearby quaint little place (where we had juicy SWEEEEEEEET burgers). we were joined by the sweet princess and hey surprise surprise, another blogger who was in the same course as the chipmunk (ok ok, the chipmunk is fina ... hee!). heriati, it was really nice meeting you. hope you were not too overwhelmed by our crazy antics. i'll remind the other 2 to take their medication before stepping outdoors. oh and the keyword for the day are, kangkong, sawi and coconut. don't ask ...

today today ... i received yet another pleasant surprise early in the morning. an sms from a blogger recently returned from an all out shop-till-you-drop vacation. sawatdee khaaaa! she was involved in an event at the childcare at my workplace. and so, we did lunch (i had food, she had dessert). for the first time, it suddenly struck me how tall i am compared to her (or how short she was compared to me .. heehee!). useless information i know, don't ask why i had to blog about it, sheesh. anyhoo, thanks dear for the very interesting stories of superwomen with very strong genital walls! eeuuuwww eeuuuuwwww eeeuuwwww ..... i'd never look at another coke bottle the same way again.

tomorrow, i'm doing henna for yet another blogger *waves @ lynn*.

friday ........... well, friday i'm in love! half day, shopping expedition and one of my favourite persons for company. should i be alarmed that she's also a known and "dangerous" crazed shopper? *cue psycho theme song* ....

every week i'll try to find a new cutesy song to entertain amir with. it's really not a difficult task as amir laughs/giggles/guffaws at any song his aunty sings to him. yes yes i know, i'm his dancing bear ..... so what? heh heh ...

but i don't want to sing him typical silly kiddy songs like
1) twinkle twinkle little star
2) 10 little indian boys
3) itsy bitsy spider
4) london bridge is falling down
5) ... you get the picture ...

adam has been a great help in this department. he knows some of the silliest, most ridiculous non-kiddy songs i've ever heard. and well, he sings them to me and i giggle my ass silly everytime.

the one song that has been tickling amir pink is the gollum "wish for a fish" song. never heard of it? go watch two towers again. it's there. really. where in the movie? *sigh* you guys are demanding. ok ok, the part where frodo and sam were captured by faramir's men and gollum got separated from them. he resurfaced again at the forbidden pool and caught a fish, singing away. faramir was about to give the order to shoot him but frodo stopped him in time. yes, that scene right there. he was singing a ridiculous song about catching a fish. what? how does it go? *sigh* alright alright, i'll tell ya ...

this morning, while i was in discussion with a colleague, amir's mama called me.

amir's mama: kak, how to sing that gollum song ah?

amir's aunt: *blinks* ... err, i'm kinda busy right now ...

amir's mama: i need to sing it to him 'cos i'm feeding him now and he won't open his mouth. that's the only thing that will make him laugh out loud ...

amir's aunt: *sigh* ... *sings softly* ... rock and pool is nice and cool ....

amir's mama: what and pool??

colleague: *nonplussed*

amir's aunt: *cringe* ... rock and pool is nice and cool, so juicy sweet! our only wish to catch a fish ....

amir's mama: what's after nice and cool??

i've been such a slacker. there are many things happening all at once and i wish i could blog them all. but i was overwhelmed. thank God for people like herda and fina who update most religiously (you guys have more than 24 hours a day or what??). anyways, in an attempt to not seem outdated, here's a recap on what's been happening all week.

dec 8: hana's (of izadnhana) 27th birthday.
a bunch of us (ie. herda, fina, crazycookie, mystique, fashionista and myself) plotted a surprise party for her. thanks to izad (aka mr hana), the *evil* scheme was executed beautifully. dinner was at lau pa sat. herda and i cooked up this idea of a princessy theme party. so we all got her a pretty tiara and wand (hmm, princesses carry wands? we are a confused bunch of people). we also got her a mrs field's brownie cake which was absolutely, sinfully delish! she was moved to tears (awwww ...). the night was filled with lots of good food, belly-aching laughter and great friendship. photos? i'm just gonna siphon them off herda's, fina's, izadnhana's and mystique's. thanks ladies. heh heh!

dec 9: did henna for a very special friend. congrats, babe. here's to the loss of personal liberty and many years of marital bliss! he's one uber lucky man *grins*. photos here.



dec 10: another bridal henna gig. photos soon.
later that night i crashed shireen and malique's post-eid gathering. got there at 10:30pm and was feeling very tired and achy. but as soon as i entered their crib, i felt my lethargy ebb away thanks to the grinning, friendly familiar faces that greeted me. it's good to see them again. shir darling, thanks for having me over. i had a blast! photos by herda, fina, mystique and izadnhana.

dec 11: did henna for NKF's cancer awareness day at tampines from 11am to 5pm. because of this engagement, i was unable to attend the aforementioned special friend's wedding :(. sorry babe. when i accepted this job, i totally forgot that it coincides with your wedding. i'm such a doofus! hope you had a beautiful wedding. no photos 'cos i was too busy hennaing 10,000 people *faints*.

dec 12: went to another friend's wedding. wow, a convoy of harley bikes accompanied the newly-weds. awesome! oooh, and i get to spend the afternoon with amir the adorable.

can my life get back to normal now?

right .... uh-huh .....

think i'm gonna get high for a bit. pass me that bottle of eucalyptus oil please .... thank you ...

december started off with a bang for me. last week in particular i was terribly busy with henna, great music, food and good company. let's recall, shall we? ....

dec 1: taufik batisah crowned first singapore idol *see previous entry*
dec 1 & 2: 3 bridal henna jobs (took photos for only one though *see previous entry*)
dec 3: oooohhh, went to a gorgeous concert by latif bolat (turkish musical extraordinaire) at the esplanade
dec 4: henna for anis' friend (nice meeting you and your family, lynn) followed by *last* eid visiting *phew!*
dec 5: small blogger gathering @ my place

this week looks busy too ...

Taufik Batisah - Singapore Idol!

i nearly missed the show last night. i had a last minute bridal henna job. so i sms'ed the bride-to-be (henceforth known as Y) before i left for her home:

hi dear, i'm curious. do you watch singapore idol?

no reply.

my heart sank *sigh*

i arrived at her home and she asked:

Y: did you sms'ed me about SI?

J: (nods)

Y: yes i'm gonna catch the show ... and this time i'm gonna vote!

J: (silently) HURRAH!! (aloud) i hope you're voting for taufik ...
(makes up evil scheme to draw taufik's face on her hand if she said she'd vote for the "other one")

Y: of course!!

J: (grins and eliminates evil scheme)

and so the mighty jewel juggled between slinging henna, staring adoringly at the idiot-box (everytime taufik comes on, of course) and sms'ing 1 to 43657. she grooved when he belted out "superstition". nearly wept when he sang "i dream" and fell in love (hard) when he crooned "me and mrs jones". *siiiigggghhhhh*

what a performer! what a voice! he's just phenomenal!!

just before 10:30pm ....

Y: how did you do that?

J: (blinks)

Y: ... henna and sms at the same time?

J: i have superhero powers ...

Y: heh .... so how many sms'es did you send?

J: uno momento (checks phone) .... ummm .... 29 ... only ...

Y: WAHHHHHHH!!

J: (does a double quick check on the $$ spent) ... wahhhhhh ....
(silently) thank God for bonus!

by 10pm i was done with the henna. not wanting to miss the results show, i stayed on. gullible and stoopid mistake. by the 4th "we'll be right back after the break", i was ready to strangle gurmit to death. just gimme the results already, goddamnit! just before 11pm, i was too excited to sit down. i was rocking back and forth on the balls of my feet in anticipation, making a silent prayer, "please let it be taufik!". and finally, gurmit announces, taufik wins! hurrah HURRAH! Y screamed and i did too, startling her parents and gramma (sorry!). from the block opposite theirs, we could hear loud whoops of joy. taufik looks stunned ... but happy ....

TAUFIK BATISAH, congratulations dude! you are truly a star. pure and raw talent. good looks to boot. who else better to represent us on the world stage? i voted, i decided .... i get what i wanted ... i'm happy :-)

i downloaded this wallpaper and found out later that it costs S$3. yeesh.
