true love waits

this is a real story, as recounted by the great-grandson himself. a truly touching love story. one that transcends the boundaries of patience and true love. and in it, is a lesson that touches my heart so profoundly, because it's the one thing that i have yet to grasp in the true sense of the word. may Allah grant me the mother of all patience. amiin!

"this is a story about my great-grandfather. he was sent to fight in the dardanelles during the first world war. dardanelles is on the other side of the bosphorus, a narrow channel in northwestern turkey that connects istanbul to the aegean sea. it connects the aegean sea to the sea of marmara. we lost 250,000 people there, and so did the enemies. miraculously, my great-granddad managed to come out of that war alive. he was then taken to yemen to fight the british army. he was captured there and was sent to england as a POW, to a place called gosport. i've been there, this town is now known as "turk town" because alot of the POWs continued living there after the war. my great-granddad lived there for seven years. all that time, nobody knew if he was alive or dead. after seven years, he went back to his village and found my great-grandmom still there, waiting for him. she could have assumed that he had died and gotten remarried but she didn't and she waited for him. she knew deep in her heart that he was still alive and he would come back for her, so she waited for him. my grandmother only saw her father for the first time when she was seven years old, she was born when my great-granddad was away at war. now my great-grandparents are buried together, their graves side by side, in the village. i will always visit them whenever i go there, and insya Allah, i will take you there too. i know sometimes its hard, but remember that patience always pays back. true love waits, just have faith."

thank you, for the lesson. i WILL try my best. may Allah help me.

seni cok seviyorum!
